MEAFEC, as an incorporated, non-profit public organization, devotes its energies to safeguarding the natural environment of Mount Eliza.

MEAFEC was founded in 1971 by a group of local residents who opposed the construction of a short-cut to the Mount Eliza shops across Earimil Creek. They opposed the destruction of the natural bushland habitat of the Creek - they rallied, wrote letters, lobbied, held public meetings - - made people aware.

MEAFEC is one of the oldest environmental associations in Victoria - we are highly respected by most residents of Mount Eliza, the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and its Councillors, State and Federal politicians, schools in the areas, local businesses and professional people. We are a group dedicated to seeing that Mount Eliza is ecologically managed and safeguarded correctly.

We believe the landscape is part of an evolving natural and man made system and decisions must ensure that the integrity of the natural and cultural landscapes are not at risk of unsympathetic change.

MEAFEC wishes to preserve Mount Eliza's strong "sense of place".
